Myfacefriends is DEAD!!!

Remember Myfacefriends? It was supposed to be the newest player in the social networking craze early this year. I described it in my original post as more of a Facebook and Friendster combined.

I’ve just checked its site: http://myfacefriends.com/ and here’s a bulletin chat board that replaces the networking site.

The Myfacefriends site is being replaced by a bulletin chat page where you can literally shout out your frustration if you're really serious on the site.

Friendster is on Full Blast

Friendster has announced that all of its users can now login to the new Friendster by using their existing account. Friendster CEO Ganesh Kumar Bangah says the beta version of the site has been well received after the site’s relaunching.

Friendster is relaunching itself as a social gaming portal hoping to make an edge on this platform after being eclipsed by Facebook on the social networking format. Though, Bangah says Friendster has touched the lives of many as friendships and connections were made through Friendster. He claimed that Friendster had ignited the boom of the social network industry.

Here’s the full text of Friendster CEO’s email:

Friendster Launches Gaming Platform

Friendster today launches its new gaming platform and bade goodbye to its original social networking form. Users were given until yesterday to export their photos and other data to other sites as these are omitted today to pave way to the new site.

I almost forgot this day until i noticed that the pictures in my Friendster email could no longer be seen. So, i visited the site and i am greeted with Friendster’s welcome page (left). If you click the link about the old Friendster, you will be brought to the page on the right.

I proceeded to login using my old account and i was asked to confirm my details. Then, i chose my avatar for my account. I chose the default avatar instead of uploading my own image.

You may invite your old friends in Friendster or opt not.

Friendster also announces the operation of its iCafe internet and gaming center in Malaysia. Also, it distributes for free its iCafe Management System which can be used in cybercafes for managing the computers, customers, accounts, and billing needs.

Friendster has also offered free high-speed wireless internet connection (wifi) in all outlets of Starbucks, Kenny Rogers, Wendy’s, and Krispy Creme in Malaysia. This is made possible by getting advertisements at the landing page of the service.

Although, my first use after i login to the site is not successful because it has experience server error when i tried one of its games.

Better luck next time… juntar. It did indeed because my next try is successful and i’m playing the game–Dragon’s Call now.

Friendster has bowed out to Facebook in the social networking race but may capitalize the popularity of online games in Asia.

“New” Friendster is Coming

Social networking site Friendster is reconstructing and it will soon come up with a new site. All Friendster users are advised to export or back up their profile, photos, blogs, messages, shout outs until May 31, 2011 as these could no longer be available in its forthcoming new site.

I received this email this afternoon from Friendster Team:

I started blogging in 2006 in Friendster but i moved to WordPress in 2007. However, some of my articles in WordPress are linked to the original posts in Friendster. So, i have to copy the original post and moved it altogether to WordPress.

Several pictures of my radio show–USC-KNN are also in Friendster. So, i have to use the Exporter App of Friendster to move all the pics to Flicker or any site possible. The Friendster Exporter page can be found here.

So, this would make my coming days after the Holy week busy.

Myfacefriends–a FB Copycat?

I have signed up to the newest social networking site-Myfacefriends–out of curiosity. At the same instance, i am keenly observing how it works. Is it another MySpace, or Facebook copycat or a new Friendster or all of them?

Well, by its font–it looks more of a Facebook; by its green color–it looks more of a Friendster; and by its prefix “My”– its more of a MySpace. In short, a combination of the three greatest social networking sites.

Below is the HOME page. By all angles, it looks more of a Facebook.

It’s FRIEND REQUEST looks like that of Friendster.

Its MEDIA UPLOADER looks like that also of Friendster.

You can also search all members of Myfacefriends even they’re not your friends.

Myfacefriends has a public chat room using Meebo where you can interact anyone who’s in there. You can also privately chat your friends using its chat box at the lower right bottom of the page like that of Facebook.

More on Myfacefriends in coming days… (UPDATE: Myfacefriends is DEAD!!!! check this out: http://myfacefriends.com/)
