Jose Cuerquis is USC-KNN Season 6 “Big Winner”

Clad in long sleeve and a tie, Jose Cuerquis was all-ready to accept what an unexpected gift of the night for his family–the BIG WINNER title of the “USC-Kapamilya Negosyo Na Season 6” at the awarding ceremony during the USC-COCAAI Grand Alumni Homecoming Saturday night (Feb. 18, 2012) at the new Convention Center of J Centre Mall in Mandaue City.

Jose Cuerquis was congratulated by the rest of the USC-KNN winners right after the proclamation of the Big Winner.

Cuerquis’ “Clean More” enterprise was chosen as the most viable business among the 24 winners (finalists) vying for the title this season. It has convinced the panel of judges that his business will have a good future. Clean More produces house cleaning solutions from dish washing liquid to hand soap at a very affordable prices.

  

Jose Cuerquis belonged to “The Magnificent 11“–the second batch of finalists that formally joined the competition in October 2011. He was prominently featured in Cebu Daily News on the paper’s January 26, 2012 edition. Cuerquis received from USC-COCAAI an additional seed capital of P10,000 cash as his prize.

It was also the first time that the USC-KNN has given special awards to some of its finalists:

  • Promising Entrepreneur Award – Melcan Signe

  • Product Excellence Award – Teresista Ursal

KNN Season 6 is Now Officially On!

The USC-COCAAI (College of Commerce Alumni Association, Inc.) has renewed its ties with ABS-CBN Corporation and other institutions in launching the Sixth Season of the Kapamilya Negosyo Na! (KNN).
The signing of the Memorandum of Agreements was held Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Ayala Activity Center by the representatives of the USC-COCAAI, USC-College of Commerce, ABS-CBN/DyAB, and the Department of Labor and Employment.

The MOA extends the airing of the radio show–KNN for another year over DyAB1512 which airs every Saturday, 3-4pm with broadcaster Jun Tariman as the host.

The USC-College of Commerce reaffirmed its commitment for the use of the facilities and faculty in assisting the program. While the DOLE has again extended its financial support to KNN by approving the second grant amounting to P400,000. DOLE had provided almost P900-thousand grant to KNN in 2009 to finance the project for two years.

Those who were present during the signing were Alice Uy for USC-COCAAI, USC-College of Commerce Assistant Dean Chaloner Matero, Leo Lastimosa and Tata Cinco-Sy of ABS-CBN, and DOLE OIC Regional Director Exequiel Sarcauga.

The launching was immediately followed by the Business Plan-Making Seminar on Saturday, March 26 at the USC Law & Business School building where about 120 participants had joined in the lecture.

The participants are expected to submit their business proposals following the business plan format introduced during the seminar for them to qualify as a contestant in the Sixth Season of KNN.

KNN Season 4 Winners

KNN has already awarded the initial seed capital to the 10 KNN4 Finalist last Saturday, July 11,2009 at the ABS-CBN Conference Room.

Each of the finalist has received a check worth P10,000 as initial capital. The remaining P5,000 shall be released to them in October in time for the Christmas season.

KNN4 Business Plan Making Seminar

About a hundred participants from the almost 200 individuals who earlier signified their interests have joined the one-day Business Plan Making Seminar held over the weekend at the University of San Carlos-Main Campus.

The participants were divided into three groups with each group mentored by a team of faculty from the USC-College of Commerce. The mentors included the teams headed by Dr. Beth Villarin, Dr. Grace Lape and Mr. Jun Dedamo.

The participants are lectured briefly about Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Management in preparation  for the actual drafting of a business plan.

The business plan is required for those who want to join this year’s competition on Kapamilya, Negosyo Na! After the seminar, the participants are encouraged to consult from their assigned mentors on the correctness and viability of their business plan.

The prospective participants to this year’s KNN competition will submit their final business plan for evaluation and screening by the KNN committee.

There will be 10 finalists to be chosen and shall be granted  with seed capital of P15,000 each. The progress of their business will be monitored and shall be reported during the KNN radio show.

A big winner shall be declared on February 2010 who shall receive additional capital for his/her business. More updates on KNN4 every Saturday (12:30nn-2pm) over DYAB1512 of ABS-CBN Cebu.

KNN Season 4 Kicks Off

The Kapamilya Negosyo Na! Season 4 officially kicks off Friday (March 27) during the Kapamilya Media Forum at the SM City Cebu entertainment plaza with full-packed audience.

Questions on the conduct of the KNN Season 4 were raised  by the attendees who were eager to know the details of the only entrepreneurship radio reality show in Cebu.

LIVELIHOOD SKILLS TRAINING

Friday’s launching was immediately followed by the Livelihood Skills Training the following day at the Cogon-Ramos Gym.

282 have registered during the training while 193 of them have signified their intention to attend the Business Plan Seminar on Saturday, April 4 t the USC-main, rooms 348 & 440.

The Business Plan Seminar is required for those who want to join the KNN4 competition because the participants shall be asked to submit a business plan for their proposed livelihood/business proposal.

The screening committee shall base from the business plan, interviews, demonstration and background investigation on who shall be provided with seed capital as finalists. There shall be 10 finalists who will compete, while operating their individual business, the whole year until a Big Winner shall be declared on February 2010.

The livelihood skills training was just a presentation of possible livelihood skills that a participant can enter into for his business proposal to the KNN Season 4.

Some of the skills presented during the training were food/snack preparation, detergent making, fashion accessory making, and Abaca Fiber sheet production.

To date, KNN has already provided livelihood assistance to 26 individuals who were finalists during the first three seasons of the program.

This year, there are consolation cash prizes to be given to those who can’t make it to the top ten.
