The Philippines’ IT competitiveness index is downed this year from 2008’s figures as shown by the latest survey done by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU)–a division of the Canadian-based publication Economist.
From 10th place in 2008, RP is now at 12th among the 17 Asia-Pacific countries that are included in the survey. Also, the country fell to 56th place from 47th last year among 66 countries worldwide.
Here’s the top 10 in the Asia-Pacific region:
- Australia
- Singapore
- Japan
- Taiwan
- South Korea
- New Zealand
- Hongkong
- China
- Malaysia
- India
The EIU study is commissioned by the Business Software Alliance (BSA) to test the IT competitiveness of the countries based on some standard factors– such as overall business environment, IT, infrastructure, human capital, legal environment, research and development environment, and government IT policies.
