UPDATED List of Approved Motorcycle Protective Helmet

This list has just been updated by the Department of Trade and Industry as of June 30, 2012.

Motorcycle owners who wish to secure the ICC/PS Stickers for their old/already purchased helmet may visit the DTI office in Central Visayas with the following requirements:

  • Helmet should be in good condition–no cracks and breaks and has chin strap
  • Helmet should not be more than 5 years old
  • The Helmet should show a brand in it and the brand must be in the approved list
  • Photocopy of Identification Card
  • P100 for the processing fee and P1.25 for the sticker fee

The prescription to wear the standard motorcycle helmet shall be strictly enforced effective August 1, 2012 as mandated by the Motorcycle Helmet Act (RA10054).

UPDATE1 !!!!

DTI Usec Zenaida Maglaya said yesterday (Jan. 3, 2013) that enforcers will honor helmets bearing stickers of the US Department of Transportation (DOT) and the European Economic Community (EEC) even without the ICC/BPS sticker.

Maglaya said they will instruct enforcers to honor the helmets with DOT and EEC stickers since these are presumed compliant to the safety standards.

Several motorcycle owners who owned an imported helmet without the ICC/BPS stickers lamented why the brand of their helmets are not in the list even if it passed the standards in the U.S. and in Europe while there are cheaper helmets from China that are included in the list.

Maglaya made a clarification yesterday during a media interview.

  2. last Dec 2011, bumili po ako ng Helmet with ICC Sticker at LS2 ang brand, ang problema ko po ngayon ay wala na po ang resibo, nabili ko po sa SM Marilao, Bulacan. kailangan ko pa po ba ipasuri ang Helmet sa DTI?

    • Hindi kailangan ang resibo. Kailangan may brand na mabasa ang taga DTI sa helmet to recognize it. But if it has still the sticker,, you don’t need to go to the DTI.

  3. the brand of my helmet is JAL ..nabili ko 1998 at wala ito sa listahan…..anyway, nabasa ko na-intindahan ko na not more than 5 years iyong helmet na pwedeng gamitin…sana lng bigyan muna ng konsiderasyon iyong gamit na helmet ko ngayon since di kasama sa budget iyong pag bili ng bago…until december 31..

      • Sir… may mga hear say kc na nagsasabi na Half face helmets and modular eh bawal din at hnd maiissuehan ng ICC stickers? totoo ba un?

        • Only full-face are allowed. LTO agents will continue to arrest those who are not wearing the prescribed helmet. Those who shall wear the prescribed helmet even it has no ICC sticker shall not be apprehended until the end of the year.

  16. i saw yesterday at DZMM teleradyo (manila). They are talking about the DTI ICC helmet and the new helmet law….a lot of complaints from the listeners/ viewers were asking, why the brand of their helmet was not on the list…The DTI representatives said that they are following E.U (european union) helmet (list of helmet) standard….they admitted also that they don’t have equipment (specifically) in testing helmet…

    • The only reason for it is BELL probably didn’t pass through the importation requirement. That’s why it has no ICC. Anyway, you still have until December to wear that without getting arrested by LTO since it’s a good helmet (not the safety helmet or baseball-gear type).

  18. SparX is a good brand why is it not included on the list? Do you think i can try to bring this to dti and let them approve it? Or i might just waste my time going there but im not gonna be able to get the sticker for it? Please advise, thanks!

    • Wait until the brand of your helmet shall be in the list. DTI will not processed any helmet (even you believed it passed the standards) with a brand not in their official list The DTI’s Bureau of Product Standard has been processing applications by several brands.

      • I mate, thanks but no thanks, finally got my sparx certified as per dti inspector its easy to check those brands that are already on the list but as long as it’s in good condition and good quality it doesn’t matter. To all the peeps:
        Just make sure that you clen your helmets before you bring it to dti its a plus if you have a clean and look durable helmets….

        I’m all set!

    • I don’t have the official list except the one earlier they provided us that appeared in my previous post here. This updated one has appeared during their processing at the Halad sa Kapamilya of ABS-CBN on June 24.
